Larned – Steven E. Crockett, 60, died January 20, 2013, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

He was born March 31, 1952, in Dodge City, the son of Edward and Emma James Crockett. A long time Larned resident, he was a disciplinary hearing officer for the Juvenile Justice Authority.

He was of the Christian faith; He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, a Boy Scout leader, a USD 495 school board member and the Pawnee County Crime Stoppers

On July 8, 1973 he married Carol Arrowsmith in Sedgwick, Ks. She survives

Other survivors include: a son, Matt Crockett and wife Candi, Commerce City, C0.; a daughter, Tess Gevara and husband Mickey, Larned; two sisters, Sue Hosford, Texas, Judy DuPree, Kinsley; two grandchildren, Ethan and Jaci Gevara

He was preceded in death by a sister, Sally Warner.

Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Ryan Webster presiding. Friends may sign the register book from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned.

in 2009. He was active in Ducks Unlimited and the Rattlesnake Fire District, Elbert County, Colorado. In high school
he was an Explorer with the Commerce City Police Department, Colorado, and the rodeo club at Ponderosa High
School in Parker, Colorado. He was a Cub Scout and an avid hunter, sportsman and golfer. He held a B.S. in Land Use
Management from Metropolitan State College, was a salesman for National Oil Varco, and was co-owner of The Flyover
Cafe, Susank. During his life he had been married to Regina Hill, Jill Ulrich, and Michelle (Dunn) Chapman.

Louise worked for many years at the Town and Country grocery store in Hoisington. She also managed the Peter Pan
Ice Cream Store in Hoisington, later working for Fuller Brush, Great Bend, from which she retired.
Louise was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Hoisington. She liked to play pinochle, bingo, and especially
enjoyed following her grandchildren’s activities.

Rozel – Joe Willard Powell, 82, died January 30, 2013 at the Pawnee Valley Community Hospital, Larned.

He was born September 15, 1930 in Rozel; the son of Frank W. and Lola M. Fromong Powell. A lifetime area resident, he was a farmer.

 Survivors include; a brother, Jim Powell, Green Valley, Arizona; three sisters; Jean Thomas, Prescott Valley, AZ, Grace Powell, Seattle, WA, Barbara Powell, Grand Coulee, WA and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by; a brother; Jack Powell and two sisters; Martha Williams and Wanda Allen.

Graveside Service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Larned Cemetery with Pastor Brad McCoy presiding. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned.
