Married Doris Marie Winkelman March 1, 1947 at Wichita, Kansas. She died September 8, 2009.
He was a carpenter for Lindholm Construction, Great Bend, and later was a self-employed carpenter for ten years.
Mr. Rice was an Andover, Kansas resident for six years coming from Great Bend, where he had resided since 1950.
He was a United States Army Air Force veteran, serving during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.
He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3111, American Legion Argonne Post 180, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #646, B. P. O. Elks Lodge #1127, and A. F. & A. M. Lodge #15, all of Great Bend; and Midian Shrine, Wichita.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Lester Rice, and three sisters, Rachel Bosher, Vernadine Hughes, and Marlene Planter.
