OBITUARY INFORMATION

He was a 1955 graduate of Hoisington High School.

He married Connie Lou Gilmore October 8, 1960 at Hoisington, Kansas.  A Great Bend resident most of his life, coming from Susank and Milberger, he was owner and operator of Rube’s, Inc., the local Trane and GE dealer for more than fifty years.

Mr. Rube was a United States Navy veteran.  

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he served on the Board of Trustees and the Kopke Scholarship committee; Golden Belt Model Railroad Club; Golden Belt Community Concert Association; Optimist Club of Great Bend, where he was former secretary and treasurer and also on the scholarship committee; Life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3111; American Legion Argonne Post 180; Vintage Wheels Car Club; Refrigeration Service Engineers Society; North American Technician Excellence, and was a former Camp Fire Board member. He loved gardening, painting, and model trains and was an avid fan of Great Bend Panther and Wilson Dragon athletics.

his wife: Connie Rube, of the home

two daughters: Becky Reeves and her husband Alan of Wilson, KS, and Carie Pedigo and her husband Brian of Great Bend, KS

one brother: Robert “Bob” Rube and his wife Janette of Kearney, MO

Five Grandchildren: Tyler Reeves and fiancée Kayla, Creighton Reeves, Tanner Reeves, Phane Pedigo, and Accacia Pedigo

One Great-grandson: Jesse Alan

 

 

SERVICE INFORMATION

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Bryant Funeral Home

Officiant: The Reverend Angela DeVore, BCC

Interment: Great Bend Cemetery, Great Bend, Kansas with military rites by the United States Navy Honor Guard

Visitation:  9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 17, 2014 at Bryant Funeral Home

Memorial Fund: Optimist Club Scholarship Fund or St. Rose Foundation for the Benefit of the Heartland Cancer Center or Golden Belt Home Health and Hospice, in care of Bryant Funeral Home
